Default Perth....RUGBY LEAGUE

Hi to everyone,

Heading to Perth at the latest end of March 2006.Absolutely all family cannot wait, just one problem with our son.He is 11 and loves his rugby league.

So does anyone know of any junior clubs in or around Perth doing Rubgy League? I know there may be a union club up and running in 2006.

Any help or advice greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Ian

Get him playing union, the proper code of Rugby. It is the sport of kings. Perth has a super 14 team, the Western Force from next year

He'll get sucked into AFL mate. You won't be able to stop it.

At least the shape of the ball is the same.

Don't worry about that kick and clap rugby union stuff. Rugby union in Oz is kinda like old fashioned (1950s) Australian rugby league.

the NRL is starting to take games on the road again. Perth had a game this year, adelaide will get a game next year and NZ cities are getting more games.

Don't need NRL in Perth. We've got the real deal, Western Force in the Super 14 from 2006.

No NRL team at the moment. There was a team in Perth but it was sacrificed during the superleague war. The ceo, David Gallop, has expressed an interest to get a team back there but it will be a few years yet.

They will be having more games on the road so keep an eye out for them.

Perth is actually quite removed (in many ways) from the rest of the country. Rugby League is massive in NSW and Qld. This year, every program in the 10 highest pay-tv ratings was an nrl game. It rates through the roof and in NSW and Qld club games often outrate the Beldisloe cup (despite the different size of the crowds in the stadium) on free to air tv.

It is quite a shock to go to Perth as it is quite well sealed off from all the rugby league hysteria in the most populated and wealthiest parts of the country. State of Origin, for example, will be a main story in the news for nearly 2 months of the year.

The Lions are touring next year for the Tri-Nations (other teams are the Kiwis and the Kangaroos) and it will be great to see them here again.

See, there is an advantage to being (allegedly) 'isolated'.

The double than expected Melbourne viewing audience for the NRL final and State of Origin shocked everyone and shows RL has potential there.

It's a fun game. The NRL is without a doubt the best rugby comp (of either code) on the planet.

If you don't like it. Keep your thoughts to yourself.

Charming.

Millions of Australians would disagree.

How unusual.. a rugby union fan going on a rugby league thread and ruining it.

Why?
