IMO, April/May are the best months to visit Perth, nice sunny days without it being too hot, can't comment on the Northern areas as I haven't been.

I was initially going to visit in March/April but family issues meant delaying until July/August.

Once I know where I am job-wise, and have made a decision, I will update you.
