Perth information required, please help?

Hopefully off to Perth early 2003, can anyone help with information on Schools, Education and Decent Places to live, Children are 8, 6 and 18 months. Also we'd appreciate any feedback good or bad on living in/around Perth. We looked at other cities around Australia but for one reason or another Perth came up trumps. First post, sorry if I've duplicated others requests in the past.

Loads of info on Perth on this site. Also email me on [email protected] and i will send you our Perth spread sheet so you can chat to people who are all going there.

Do a search under Perth and you will find a multitude of useful info and websites too.

Hope that helps.

Hi Santa

We're arriving in Perth in Jan 03, I'll post some further info after my recce visit in November. We have 3 children, 12,8 and 6 and the plan is to get them in school for the start of the school year at the beginning of Feb. I'm having to locate both senior and junior schools for my lot. A couple of good sites we've found when researching schools are;

www.aussiemove.com
www.eddept..wa.edu.au

Send your stuff to Nicola as she mentioned.

Nicola, hang in there it won't be long, I'm sure.

Hi,

I'd also recommend the AussiMove site as it has lots of information about the different suburbs and links to reports for each school.

After reading the school reports in the area we were initially thinking of moving to (Bentley/Como/Victoria Park) we decided instead to go to the northern suburbs. We're in Mindarie which is about as far north as you'd want to go if you work in the city or south of the river; it takes 45-60 minutes by bus and train to Perth station in the city.

As you would imagine, the general trend is house prices increase as you get closer to the city and closer to the ocean. One thing we hadn't realised until coming was that you'll almost certainly need to get a car. Public transport is relatively clean and frequent but doesn't serve all suburbs. You can check out the details at the TransPerth website (sorry, don't know the address).
