Perth house prices !!!
What are the property prices like out in Perth right now ? When i started my visa application almost 2 years ago, Perth was supposed to be pretty affordable. Now i read that it is so expensive, and having looked on some websites i am thinking that this may be true. 400-500 dollars a week for 3 bed house !!!!
I am about to book a flight out there but i am now having serious doubts now ! Can anyone shed some light on this ? |

Re: Perth house prices !!!
Read this today, so even the WA Government are predicting a "softening" in the housing market but admit it hasn`t happened yet, but should sometime in 06/07 (how long is a piece of string??)
http://www.thewest.com.au/default.as...ontentID=10311 I guess we will just have to wait & see, the whole housing issue is always split into 2 camps the buyers who want the market to go down (like myself) or the sellers who want it to up and either side can always find articles to support their own point of view and to talk the market up or down!! :) |
Re: Perth house prices !!!
Friends put in an offer on a house $20,000 below the asking price and were accepted....That was unheard of since I've been here (7months)

Re: Perth house prices !!!
We are going out to Perth in January, hopefully to live in the Rockingham area, the one site we keep an eye on is http://www.reiwa.com.au/Nav/Nav-Publ...efe7bb62164846 (which is the Real estate Institute of Western Australia).
It's great because you can search for houses in price range, no. of bedrooms, area etc - and the prices do seem to be coming down - quite a few properties have has $10000 chopped of the price, and there seem to be more listed. So we feel more optomistic that we are going to be able to get our 4 bedded two bathroom house (with pool or at least space for one) and reduce our mortgage by £20000 (that is pounds) - rose coloured spectacles or the grass is greener? maybe but it's looking promising :) . Just got to sell our house here first  ! |

Re: Perth house prices !!!
we actually spent an age updating the wensite last weekend with the starting prices on a 4x2 home in each suburb, that should give you an idea of how much it will cost to get into a suburb, just remember that it's a starting price and obviously you can spend much more, also it's based on 4x2's (thats 4 bedrooms 2 bathrooms) in the most part, so usually 3x1's will come in cheaper. have a look here http://www.movetoperth.com/info/subu...b_browser.html we've also put in what percentage each suburb has increased over the last 6 and 12 months, again based on the lowest price.
Hope you find it useful. Lynn |

Re: Perth house prices !!!
It does seem that there has been a lot of threads on Perth housing lately but perhaps that is a sign of how concerned people are - especially the ones like myself who have yet to make the move. Not everyone has money from selling a Uk house to enable a big deposit, not everyone wants to buy a house in order to make huge profits a few months later. Some of us just want to be able to buy a wee house to live in and be comfortable in. We`ve never expected to go out there and get the 4 x 2 with pool straight away, we`ve always been looking at a 2 x1 or 3 x 1 and even that may be out of reach to an extent now. So for those of you who are finding the debate boring, spare a thought for those who are in interested and will be struggling, or alternatively don`t bother reading the thread.

To sum up, a quote from the Bank of England's Mervyn King last year:
" House prices are a matter of opinion whereas debt is real" |

I have every sympathy gobbyjock, we have only just bought and if I told you how much my mortgage was you would fall off your bar stool :scared: I think what I should have said was that there is plenty of information on perth house prices on BE, using the search function should really be everyones first port of call. |
