Both have to same feel to them like a british town rather than the cities they are... but Perth is a long flight from anything, so its brisbane for us

Perth is one of the fastest growing cities in the world, its new and sparkling and LOTS of Brits seem to be heading there.
However we changed our minds to Brisbane, or GC to be exact, purely for two major reasons, the first being the way the housing market is developing on the West Coast and spiralling higher and higher.
Secondly we have two children who are 7 and 9, when they get to the age of fleeing the nest we wondered if they would be bored with Perth and want to try the East Coast, if we were that side they could try Melbourne, Sydney etc and we wouldn't be so far away from them.
Just my opinion whether its the right one will remain to be seen !!
6 months research on Perth, 3 months research on Brisbane... our own choice but East Coast seems to have more to offer us..

Its Brisbane for us. We've never been to Perth and it doens't really appeal. It seems so far from everywhere else. We loved Brisbane when we were there and we have family on the Gold Coast so that is where we are headed.

Has to be perth for me too. The isolation doesn't bother me, so many places to see in WA and closer to thailand, singapore etc etc.

I didnt much like Brisbane/GC or SC. admittedly, my head was in a mess due to pregnancy hormones but IF we went back to Oz, i doubt we would go to East Coast.

Perth, definitely. I prefer dry heat to humidity.

Does she have family in either city? And does have friends in Brisbane?
We'd never been to Australia but decided on Perth - here are some of the reasons:
1) because we have some friends here and next year we will have some family here as well.
2) everyone we knew that have been to Perth loved it and said that we would too.
3) we liked what we read about the climate of Perth
4) my hubby has a skill on the demand list - so he earns a good wage and he has job security.
5) isolation doesn't bother us (besides if you lived on the east coast you would pretty much have to hop on a plane to visit the other cities anyway - unless you like lots of driving)
6) both of us had never even considered going to one of the other cities - so for us we didn't have to make a decision on where to go in Australia.
