Default Perth is better than i thought

well only been here two days and have already seen the marina at mindarie and the hillarys habour, both are beautiful and have fallen in love with both of them, but back in the real world i will be looking a bit further north than both of these as the prices round here are a bit too pricey for me at the mo.

some really nice estates been built just the other side of the highway and will be checking out the show homes tomorrow.

blue skies quite beaches clean streets think i'll go back to the uk hey !!!

Welcome to Perth, great isn't it. I disagree with you about Hillarys harbour though, I think it is horrible, basically a collection of fast food places.

Enjoy Perth.

We will be in Perth in June for our new life - any advice greatly accepted.

Have you been to Freemantle - nice place to live? I heard Mindarie is lovely but pricey is that London pricey or Perth pricey?

So excited can't wait - will ahve to organise an expat get together....

Fremantle is a fantastic place, imo - really feels like home to us, but there is no way we could ever afford to live there, I don't think. Put it this way - when we were looking at property prices, we estimated that Fremantle's prices were about 150% dearer than somewhere like Port Kennedy or Secret Harbour. We wanted to live in the latter, have ended up in the former, and love it. Where are you going to be working - do you know?

I'm with you Amazulu about Hillarys. Over priced, the restaurants are crap (not tried Zeno's but heard it's OK). It's over crowded.

And of an evening people are regularly getting "bashed" and one bloke was murdered.

Mindarie - does anyone remember that awful soap opera Eldorado? well that's Mindarie

I'm not a Hillarys fan either, my husband calls it Ibiza and will usually think of any excuse to avoid going.

Mindarie is nice but its getting harder to find anything under $500k unless it needs work done or you don't mind being close to Marmion Ave, the school is good and it has good access to private schools if thats your thing. But i am always amazed by how few people you ever see there, never see kids in the parks. I have an aussie friend who has just moved there and says she wishes she hadn't as its like a retirement village and she doesnt like the fact she has to go to other suburbs for playgroup etc..... i have other friends aussie and brit who live it.

Mindarie, where all the streets are named after northern English towns - well most of them are.

You still cant beat this for a street name though "Bernard Manning Drive" in Duncraig, can you imagine living on a road called Bernard Manning drive?

You have to wonder how the hell they came up with the idea of "Bernard Manning Drive" was he evr there? is it coincidence and the first person to live there was also called Bernard Manning? Is there a Bernard Manning in Aussie history?

I used to live in Anchorage Drive, last time i checked Anchorage was in Alaska
