One man's meat is another man's poison.
It depends what you are used to. It would be very unfair to label any Perth suburbs as Chav hideholes ...
But ...
Avoid Padbury & Craigie like the plague ...

Re: Perth- areas to avoid ?
As three legs says, to generalise is unfair. But I wouldn't waste money on a coastal suburb, the next two suburbs across are nearly all okay (either side of the Mitchell) and similar rules apply to the South.
Midland and other inland areas tends to have cheapest property but most troubles but you can get cheaper property there.
Having been unfair and generalised ( ) also bear in mind specifics. Some suburbs are generally good but can have water treatment sites / freeways / rubbish dumps in one part. Obvious rules like avoid being next to a hotel (bar) apply.
I would say don't commit, go for a general area then make your own mind up.

Personally I cant comment on NOR cos I've never lived there but 2 SOR suburbs I would never ever live in are Bentley & Carlisle. Personal opinion only !
The other thing to do is research where the highest concentration of homeswest properties are and then avoid like the plague.

Got to agree it all depends on what sort of place you have come from and what you expect noise wise and the sort of neighbours you want to live next too.
I am up in Banksia Grove which is no more noisy than Padbury as we lived there for a while, it may be slightly less noisy, had no partys at the neighbours yet and we did quite often in Padbury with music to all hours, why can't we get double glazing? But thats another issue.

We will be first home buyers when we arrive and have been keeping an eye on Padbury and Heathridge.

Balga, Girrawheen, Koondoola, Mirrabooka, Nollamarra.
There are some pockets of Kelmscott, Gosnells, Armadale area that I would avoid aswel, but not the whole of these suburbs
Padbury has high rental and is that is the price range someone is looking at then I suggest having a look at Greenwood.

Oh I say, definitely not on our books when we went. Can only imagine it would take years to be even close to being the new North!!

[QUOTE=vandiemen]Hi Jenny, what did you think of Padbury?
We will be first home buyers when we arrive and have been keeping an eye on Padbury and Heathridge.
Padbury is fine and 5 mins to Hillarys,Freeway,Whitfords shopping centre,Joondalup and 15 mins to the city......Padbury is an older suburb but is up and coming with a lot of young families moving in. My Mate sold his renovated 3x2 within 15 minutes of putting his For Sale sign up.
