Default Pensions not going to be so Super Duper

THIRTY years of compulsory superannuation will deliver the average Australian worker less than $9000 a year.

Even combined with top-up age pension payments of $11,700, it will still mean an annual retirement income of only $20,500 a head.

Default

A bit better in NZ, you only have to live in NZ (holding PR or citizenship) for 10 years, 5 of which must be over the age of 50, and you qualify for a full NZ pension.

Currently just under NZD20K a year for a qualifying couple.
