pensions - advice needed -contribute or not
Begining to sort things out for when we go (12-13 weeks time yeh!!!). However my OH and I are having a disagreement. Now I'm confused, can anyone help me.
Basically should we carry on paying into our state pension to the UK from Oz. We are 45 & 44. My OH seems to think we wont qualify for a UK pension when we reach the necessary age. But on here I know some people have continued to pay into their pensions, would we be able to claim.
Thanks for any advice
Helen & Tony

If you returned to the uk you would then be eligible for the rate payable when you entered the uk but this would again be frozen if you went back to oz.
Hope that makes sense

£2.20 per week and you need a NI38 form.
As i have already earned £4,000 this pay year I simply send the form in back end of next year (you pay it 6 mths in arrears)
Gives me lots of time to decide if i am going to do it or not!!

Hi,
A little off topic, but reading this made me think of something I had not considered up to this point. I have several private pension funds, spanning 19 years. Two of them will be quite sizeable, the other 2 minimal.
Do I need to anything with these ? I have left the jobs paying for them ofcourse, so they are frozen on their value the day I left the company. Will I still be able to claim these from Aus ?
Cheers

ALL of you - you need to do a search on 'pensions' here. There is much you need to know.
