Default Pension Transfer value

We received a UK pension transfer value in 2008 and another this week.

My fund has increased by 82% in 31/2 years!

Final salary scheme in a large plc company.

Apparently actuaries can be flexible in how they apply rules.

Anyone else had a surprise?

Yeh me. But cos the exchange rate from UK to Aus is rubbish plus you pay Tax on anything you transfer I personally took the gamble to keep it where it is for now.

In my case the aount increased substantially because the company wants to rid itself of the rock of final salary package from around their neck so they made the deal more sweeter. This increase was not the amount the fund had increased in real terms though, that was a different amount.

If your fund increased by 82% in real terms it might be worth considering leaving it where it is as thats fantastic growth, besides the exchange rate is rubbish at the mo?
