PC Screen Problem - Any Techies out there?
Hi all - I just got an anguished call from my daughter upstairs who was using the family desktop PC. She had been playing games on CartoonNetwork when the screen went black and when it came back on the image had rotated 90 degrees to the right !
When I rebooted the windows loads normally but goes back to being "rotated" when the user account screen comes on Can anyone help me to get it the right way round? |

It depends on your graphics card but here's what I'd do with my Radeon card: 1) Right Click On Desktop (the blue background) 2) Select Properties Option 3) Select Settings Tab 4) Click the "Advanced" Button 5) Look for a "tab" of options called "Rotation" or something similar I'm sure the option is in there somewhere :) What has caused it, I don't know ... anything from a rogue keypress to a random configuration problem. Might be a virus though, worth scanning just in case. Cheers and Good Luck! Matt (edit) I can assign a key to rotate the screen, maybe your daughter has done the same inadvertently? |

Try holding down CTRL, ALT and pressing the up arrow.

Cool.. wish mine would do that.
What version of windows are you using ? First turn it all off then do the following. 1 - remove & re-connect the cable from the PC to the Monitor. make sure its firmly seated in the holes. -- turn it all on - did that fix it? 2 - reboot again, but hold down F5 when its 'booting' and you'll be given some recovery options. Chose : Start Windows in Safe Mode , this will boot windows with some default display settings. --- did that fix it ? (reboot again after this 'safe' mode has come upa nd youve looked at the display then you'll be back to normal) If 1 or 2 didnt fix it then come back here! |
