paying barclays cheque into wespac
 

hi has anybody paid a barclays cheque into a wespac branch if so can you fast track it at all and how long did it take to clear we need our funds quick as we need to buy a car thanks for any help:)

No but we have paid plenty of UK cheques into our Commonwealth bank account - they charge $10 and it takes 21 days before you can draw on it (though the credit is in your account immediately).

No idea.

We brought a bank cheque from Canada for about $5,000. They told me it would take 4-6 weeks to clear because they had to send it to collections. I've heard that's because they can't do it themselves.

Maybe they can do the UK cheques though. I can believe that it took others 3 weeks though. You're best to check with the bank before doing that. The fastest way is by for to do a telegraphic transfer.

I have a Westpac account too and was also told it would take 4-6 weeks, as they send it back to the clearing house in the UK.

So we just sent the cheque back to the drawer and had them do a telegraphic transfer instead. Had the money within a week or two.
