I'm not in NSW but in Perth, we have one and use it usually in spring and late autumn, last year was so unusual we also had to use it at the New Years party. If your sure it runs on the same bottled gas as you get here then i would take it. No point in buying something new if you have it already.

Uhh didnt anybody tell you its Winter this time of year
And this has been such a warm dry winter, from pretty much start of June last year it was like it is today through to about September non stop. We havent really had a winter this year its been great, lots of clear sunny days with warm day time temps above 20C.

Hi

Don't want to sound like I'm getting on my high horse, just wanted you to know that the patio heaters are really bad for the environment, the high volume of gas they omit pollutes the atmosphere which in turn destroys the Ozone. I have read this in a few articles.

Lots of people don't know this and I'm surprised that they don't come with a warning. I am not particularly an enviromentalist, just try and do my bit when I can and as there are other options, like wood burning patio heaters, then I thought it might be of interest especially as Oz seems to have a drastically depleting ozone as it is!

Sorry, this is not meant to be a lecture, just making you aware in case you didn't know.

All the best

In bunnings ( B & Q in the UK ) the average price is about $200 so if you are bringing a container and you have the room i would say bring it ( as long as it is worth it ).

Won't work, connections are different out here (we were told by Kleenezee Gas and Heat)

Plus they are hard to ship unless the top umbrella bit can be totally dismantled. If you can't dismantle it they get a good bashing in the container unless packed perfectly.

Wish we'd left ours with me mate.

I looked in Bunnings a million times, then we went to the "specialists" who actually told us our patio heater from the UK would be illegal to use.

We told a happy to helper that we sold ours as we thought we would not need to use it ( and we were wrong ) and he just said we would have needed to change the regulator and we would have been ok which is something that i did with my BBQ.

The regulator bit is fine, as you say the regulator can be replaced with gas tubing attached. The problem is when you get to the actual burner, the UK has a "nipple" attachment (no tit jokes please :D ) where in the gas pipe is pushed into it and is then secured by a jubilee clip.

That burner bit can't be converted ( so we were told)

They look in horror upon jubilee clips here. We brought our lovely large camping stove with us and after hiking around bunnings and every specialist camping shop in Perth we admitted defeat and bought a new stove. The fittings are quite different ( my other half talked alot about male/male, felmale/male connections - don't ask me).

I'd get rid and buy here if you need it. I reckon the second hand market would be quite vibrant in the UK.

Calm down! It is winter. The weather has been absolutely fantastic this winter (ie hardly any rain) although this is absolutely awful for the farmers. You should have been here last year. It basically rained from June until October, so count your blessings! Yes, it's cold and without central heating you feel it, but at least the sun has been gorgeous during the day.........don't count today obviously - I nearly lost my toupee earlier.
