Default Passport Renewal while on trip to UK - Help

I would expect this has been asked many times but I'm due back in the UK for two weeks and my passport is full but still has 5 years to run. Is it feasible to get a fast track passport renewal during my 2 weeks, what is the best and most effective process and how do I go about it.

My concern would be that if I cannot get my new passport back to me in sufficient time I will not be able to fly back to Oz on time.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be gratefully received.

Also my understanding is that I can re-enter OZ with my new passport and my old passport with the PR stamp.

Thanks for any ideas / info

Steve

Just out of interest. Why are you renewing it if it's still valid for the next 5 years?

I travel a lot for work and last week when I left OZ for a quick trip the guy at immigration spent ages trying to find a blank space to stamp. He mentioned that it might be time to get it renewed so I figured while I'm back in the UK I would save myself the money and trouble that other people have been experiencing.

Thanks. A full passport is impressive.
