Default passport query

Hi

I am just renewing my passport and my visa is in the old passport.

I believe they return the old passport and I just have to make sure the visa is not stamped cancelled.

Has anyone travelled with new passport and visa in old passport and if so any problems?

Cheers
lis

If you're in Australia, go to a DIMA office and get a new visa stamped (free unless it's a Resident Return Visa).

If you're outside Australia, then maybe the DIMA office nearest you will re-stamp the visa and maybe it won't.

It is ok as far as DIMA are concerned to travel with visa in old passport but every now and then airline staff don't understand this and people get seriously delayed at check-in while they try to get an authorisation directly from DIMA in Australia.
