Default Passport dilema

We as a family are moving to oz around November 07 The problem is my daughters British passport with expires in January 08 and her resident visa 09 i had hoped not to replace her U.K. passport also wondered if it will cost much to transfer her existing visa to a new passport

I don't think that having your visa transferred between passports costs anything. You simply turn up at the immigration office with old and new passport and they do it there and then.

Thats correct. Your local DIAC office can print and insert a new label for free.
