Partner Migration Fees
 

I am applying for a partner visa and am including our 2 children on the visa. Does anyone know whether we will have to pay 3 application fees (3 x £540) or just one fee to cover all of us?

I don't believe so, but are your children eligible to be registered as citizens by descent?

My husband will be sponsoring all 3 of us and he is an australian citizen currently living in the UK

I'm in a similar situation to your hubby.

If your kids can be become Australians by descent, it will make things a lot easier and simpler in the long run. Entitlements, schooling, stuff like that.

Plus, as Australians, they don't need to emigrate to Australia, which makes your position more compelling as far as a migrating family unit goes.

At least, that's how I see it.

One application fee covers a family unit.

But - if you have children, and they are eligible for citizenship by descent, I strongly suggest you register them.

If your husband was born or naturalised in Australia, *or* if he has lived there for two years, they should be eligible. As long as they're his children and not yours from a previous marriage.

One further point. Does your husband also have British citizenship, out of interest?
(I ask the question for a reason).

Yes, my husband is also a british citizen, he was born the UK and emigrated with his parents/family in 1979, when he was nine. He then became an australian citizen by grant in 1985. He returned to the UK in 1992 and we settled here and have lived here in the UK since then.

Both our daughters are his children so when you say they could become citizens by decent what and how do we arrange this?

Was just reading the Partner Migration Booklet and it states that you can include immediate dependents (i.e kids) in the application at no extra charge.

Yeah its a simple enough process, my son who was born in the UK gained Australian Citizenship by decent through me as I was born in sydney and left there for the UK at 3, he now has dual nationality with two passports, download the form 118 and get cracking.
