Parklea??? Good Or Bad Comments!!!
Hi Guys,
Been looking at different areas.... came across this area in Sydney called PARKLEA. The houses seem affordable and the schools in the area look quite good. Anyone heard anything about Parklea-good or bad! Thanks in advance for any replies or comments:thumbup: |
Re: Parklea??? Good Or Bad Comments!!!
Hi Utopia,
Until fairly recently, Parklea was semi-rural, market gardens, five acre blocks. Now like so many other places it's "wall to wall" new builds. Schools are good, has undercover weekend markets and a gaol. The last item doesn't worry the people who live there. It's sort of an extention of the Hills District. Hope this helps. :) |

It's not really considered one of the better areas in the Hills, but it's not dire. Baulkham Hills, Castle Hill or Kellyville are considered "nicer" suburbs. Baulkham Hills and Castle Hill are pretty established, Kellyville is very modern with lots of very modern housing in a small area! Hope that helps Rudi |
Re: Parklea??? Good Or Bad Comments!!!
HI We live right next to ParkLea in a place called Glenwood, great suberb along with Kellyville etc. Great for schools, low crime, good transport to city (New Busway going to be finished next week or two), great Irsih Pub called the MEan Fiddler up the road were quite a few POMS and Irish folk meet up every Sunday night, Great shopping Castle hill ect.
Please drop me a line if you need any further info. Cheers Mark the Geordie and Teresa the Scot :) |
Re: Parklea??? Good Or Bad Comments!!!
Kellyville is horrid... massive houses on tiny blocks. Nice if you don't want a garden.

Re: Parklea??? Good Or Bad Comments!!!
There's a nice big jail at Parklea. Some of Sydney's finest reside there.

Your description of Kellyville as horrid is your opinion I don't live in the middle of nowhere, if you were referring the the BM's. ;) I'm glad you love Kellyville. Someone has to. |

The original part, however, known as the "Village" has older homes which still represent good value for money. You can pick up one of these for anywhere between $450-550K and in a pretty centrally located position, close to new infrastructure (Rouse Hill shopping centre- one of the largest being currently built in NSW) which includes a new fast busway directly into the city and various new schools/community facilities being planned or built. Depending on your budget, Rouse Hill may also suit. There are so many possibilities! Hope this helps Utopia- what is your budget and when are you looking to buy? |
Re: Parklea??? Good Or Bad Comments!!!
I have to agree, in most respects with ipom. When I came to live in the Hills District, Old Windsor Road from Nth Parra to Seven Hills Road was 1 lane each way and from Seven Hills to Windsor Road was a dirt track bare 2 lanes wide. From Seven Hills to Windsor was all 5 acre blocks with lots of market gardens. What has happened in the last few years has been horrendous! All you can see now is roofs!! The whole place, including Kellyville has been over developed. The Mean Fiddler used to be a great a great pub - with plenty of character. Now apart from the original part it is souless. They used to hold barn dances in the barn there. Fantastic night.
I am not against progress but what they have done out here is just ridiculous!  |
Re: Parklea??? Good Or Bad Comments!!!
I lived in the Hills district 15 yrs ago and it was beautiful back then. The development hasn't been done kindly, I feel. I don't understand the obsession with this high density housing with colourbond fences. It's very sad. High density housing in the uk is what many came here to escape
Still, whatever rings your bell. :) |

Parklea suffers from the tag of being the "Blacktown council side of Old Windsor Rd", for those status seekers for whom LGA boundaries mean something ;) There are those who will tell you that the "other" side (Baulkham Hills) is a lot classier- best bet is to look and decide for yourself. There are many suburbs in the Hills (huge place) and Parklea is one that has sprung up in the last decade, off the back of multiple new housing estates, including Glenwood, Acacia Gardens and Stanhope Gardens. You will get a newish house (most are project homes) with DLUG on about 600-800sqm for anywhere between $360-600K depending on position and features. Though the "other" side of Windsor Rd residents will snub these suburbs, they are still only a hop skip and jump away and significantly cheaper as a result!

After hearing that there was a detention centre in Parklea that has put me of abit LOL. Looking t Glenwood...again houses seem reasonable enough price wise. To answer your Question we would be looking at $550.000 max. Thanks to IPOM,STEVE and everyone else for replying you guys better not get into a ruck about kellyville LOL:D After living in London all my life anywhere is better then here with regards to housing. Do any of you guys know anyone living in Glenwood? |
Re: Parklea??? Good Or Bad Comments!!!
There's nothing wrong with having a detention centre around. I lived near Aylesbury before coming out here... Big young offenders place there, plus open prisons. No problems with it whatsoever.
I mean, they've got to go somewhere, right? :D My best ebay customer lives in Kellyville... :D |
