Hiya All,
Anyone on/around the central Gold Coast area, know where I could buy a couple of small (3m max) palm type trees, to put in the front garden of our new house we move into on the 28Th. July????:D:thumbsup: I only have an open backed ute for transport............so the reason for 3m!!!

(And yes, I know there are plenty in the forrests.............)

Hi. Carrara Market is excellent for plants. Also, Big W has a good selection as well as Bunnings. Bear in mind though that a lot of palms do not like full sun, so position is important. If you need sun tolerant palms, then I recommend Albans (a cross between Alexander and Bangalow). We have a few around our pool and they look great. I also love Foxtail Palms. The juvenile plants don't look that fantastic when they are young, but the mature plants look great and are also sun tolerant. If you check out Carrara Market, there is a nursery right opposite and they also have a good selection.

Know the feeling well:thumbdown: We are in the same place as you and we paid to have 15 removed from along the edge of our entertaining area. Still got about another 15 dotted around the garden. Bloody things:mad:

Checked with OH. He looked at me like I was mad and said he got rid of most of them as soon as he could. Got a few huge ones that will be gone one day.
BTW you do know that cockroaches love them and when you chop a huge one down millions of the buggers crawl out

Don't do it,

you'll get bloody great fruit bats sitting in them, spitting the palm nuts into your pool, and then flying off & shi**ing all over your car, windows n' that, moan whinge etc, etc.

Seriosly though, they are pain in the arse, always have bits falling off them & looking untidy when they grow.

I think this would depend on what species of palm tree you are referring to. We have 4 species in our garden, have never had any problems, they look great and wouldn't change them for anything. We also have 4 smaller palms as houseplants.
