Anyway on here follow the Paleo diet? If so where do get your food from? Like ground almonds, coconut flour etc.
Im hoping to continue following this diet during my stay in Australia but I don't want it cost me the earth. Its only the diet that works for me. Believe me Ive tried all sorts

Im not looking to start the debate the pro and cons of the paleo diet.

DH is paleo and I've reluctantly come to see that I need to be too. My son and his family are as well - religiously so! In Aus we never had any trouble finding a food co-op or organic shop which sold the staples although I admit we aren't big on flours as there was very little "substitution" baking going on. There are Farmers markets and you'll usually find some advertising grass fed meat. There'll be food co-ops though - I can tell you where the Canberra one is but beyond that I've no idea! You'll enjoy the roo! A quick google brought this up which might be helpful All New Paleo Guide To Australia - The Paleo Network

You can buy and grind your own almonds. I buy almond meal when it is on special, as I use it a lot in my GF diet.

We are lucky on the Sunshine coast, at Forest Glen there is a huge organic food warehouse that sells by the kilo, so prices work out very reasonable. Love shopping there, brown paper bags, just scoop up what you want. I hope we can find something this good in melbourne.

If you shop at Woolies buy the almond meal from the health food shelf rather than the baking section. It's much cheaper.

What's all the desire for almonds, I thought Paleo was mostly about eating eggs and bacon?

It is what the hunter gatherer ancestors would have eaten- ie, nuts rather than wheat grains. You can thus still have your cake and eat it, but paleo style!! (I don't follow a paleo diet, rather a gluten free one, but use almonds as a partial substitute for wheat flour.)
