Paint protection or not?

Paint protection or not?
Just bought a new car which is light metallic blue.
I had paint protection on my previous car but only had it for a year as I was in an accident, and it was a write off
Would love to hear people's opinions and thoughts about putting paint protection on.
Also if anyone works in a car garage and knows the ins and outs, and if it is worth it or not, I would appreciate advice a great deal.
TIA

Complete waste of money...
Australian cars dont rust (generally speaking)... and therefore dont need any 'extra' protection.

Re: Paint protection or not?
Given the number of resprays my car has had here from cars hitting it whilst parked (luckily most I have had their insurance details for) I wouldn't bother.
In the 4 1/2 years I've had the car I would think every panel has been resprayed (or needs a dent pulling out).

No rust here and also, unlike the UK we put our cars in garages rather than our household crap
Paint protection offers you no return, it wont increase the resale of your car and is worthless imo.

I def won't be paying the garage price. I have just found out a friend who does car detailing has some special polish

Dont bother - I got it on mine and it was a mistake - look it feels nice and lovely and smooth and shines a real treat but it requires an annual "top up" at $100 a year to keep the warranty. And you dealer cant do it - it has to go somewhere else - ok it takes like 60 mins but if you are taking time out your day its a real pain.

I expect most people who purchase new cars get hit for an extra $3K on top of the price of a new car with those "Extras".
If you really want that sort of protection, get it done yourself after you drive off from the garage. It will cost you half as much and you will probably have the same person doing it for you.
