Smile Packing mattresses in containers

Got John Mason's here right now - they are saying they are going to pack our mattress on its end (in a mattress protector) and pile boxes up against it.

Will the mattress suffer from spending 8 weeks on its end? I'd rather it went horizontal but they seem reluctant to do this.

Anyone any experience?

Thanks

Buzzy

Ours went in on its side as well Buzy, but it's a memory foam mattress so I didn't think it would be a problem. Remember, you're the one who's paying for it, insist it goes in horizontally if you're really worried.

Ours came on their sides and arrived perfect. If they were flat I think the springs are more likely to be damaged either being squashed or not being totally flat on top of everything else.

Thanks guys, put my mind at rest a bit. Its a superking which aren't the easiest to get hold of in Oz so I'd prefer I didnt have to try and replace it!

We're not taking our mattresses. But if you do, you may want to take out mould & mildew cover on the insurance. As the container travels through the tropics, you may get condensation inside from the day/night temperature differences. And then the mattresses may go mouldy.
