Everything as to be free of dirt and dust, so if sending shoes make sure you give the soles a good scrub. Jeyes is good for this as it stinks so if customs look they will smell it straight away and know you have made an effort to clean.

When we shipped some bits over by ship we were advised not to use the vacuum bags because of the change in temps en route and the chance of mould etc developing. I found by rolling everything rather than folding flat saved lots of space in cases etc.

Why would dust be an issue? There is no way on earth someone could remove every bit of dust from all their worldly possessions. Dust is anywhere and everywhere.....

Foreign dust could attack the indigenous dust and throw out the whole eco system

Still remains it is impossible to remove all dust from items. Unless they have started sonic showers at customs for all the people who enter Aus? Will wear my muddy wellies when I go over lol as they don't stop people getting off planes for dirt and dust
