Packers are in & things are now real !!!

Well - the packers are here for day 2 & the container arrives tomorrow to take our stuff - it sails on 12/11. The packers are wonderful & have been very gentle with us - we have sent the boys up for some r&r at their grandparents & they come in each day to check that all their stuff is being packed away nicely! We used John Masons & until now can give nothing but praise - just keep making the tea & offering bacon butties etc.

They have just been to take away our broadband access so have had a frantic 1/2 hour trying to get access via our old pay as you go - was starting to panic - thought I would be without for 2 days!!!

We cannot believe that this has all started to become real & it has begun to affect everyone around us as well as ourselves. We have talked about it for years now & it all beginning to happen now.

The house has started to become depersonalised now & that is good I think - easier to leave I guess!!

I will go now & do a few more bits of cleaning etc but just wanted to say good luck to all others "on their way" and stay positive to all those still waiting.

We are off to stay with mum for the next 8 weeks & then fly out on 3/1/05 to Perth

Hi Pockygoes!!

So, it's all finally happening! Don't forget to double check around the house one last time before they seal your container!

Good luck for the next 8 weeks, the time will just fly by and before you know it, it will be time to catch that plane.

Hi there pockygoes

Ooh, how exciting. Where abouts are you heading?

I can't imagine how I'll feel when I get to your stage - a combination of sadness, anxiety, apprehensiveness, and a sense of a whole new way of life awaiting....

Good luck!

Hi Pockygoes!

Gosh it must be a strange feeling! Its all now becoming real for you!

So will your container arrive before you get there at begining of Jan?
Thats a good idea going out later, you will have xmas/new year with your family and friends and by the time you arrive in Oz (I presume) your things will be there ready. (Sorry if Im wrong to presume, Im dangerous when I think too much!! )

Good luck!! and safe trip when you do go!

Cheeky!! :)

exciting isnt it, pockygoes....havent got any packers in, but packing frantically myself - i wont be taking much apart from clothes and personal stuff and i thought it would be tough getting rid of all the junk ive collected over the years, but have to say it actually feels good to see that everything i really need fits in to 5 or 6 boxes....kind of....liberating i guess.

good luck for the next few weeks - im moving in with the folks for 3 weeks too....be a shock to the system both for them and me, but it will be good to be able to spend lots of time with them before i leave....everything feels ' double' at the mo.... :scared:

good luck and we might meet in perth next year!

We're setting off just after you on the 6th Jan but are hanging on to our stuff here until we go which means we'll have nowt on the other side for a good few weeks :scared: Decided it would make Christmas easier on the kids to keep everything as normal as possible until we go. Good luck over the next few weeks. I bet it'll whizz by- now that all your stuff's gone you can relax ha ha:D

I have John Masons tommorrow too...say they are going to be late as they have been delayed at another job(is it yours?), but not to worried at mo.
I'm shattered though.....just finished sorting sitting room, got kitchen and bedroom to do yet...what I really mean is polish up the furniture before it goes - Most of my stuff is to one side though - Nice to hear comforting words though on Johns Mason's hard work - But no bacon butties from me as the cooker has been bought by a friend and has already gone along with the fridge freezer - tea and cookies all on me I guess! :)

Yep we are out now - after a few very hectic days that seemed to never end - the container left at about 4.30 last night - we whipped around & locked up & went to mums for a hot steamy stew and a few g & t's. Still did not sleep properly (bed is very hard - out to buy a mattress tomorrow!) but now nice to have 8 weeks where we can spend quality time with friends & family before the off!

It was very emotional seeing our life going off down the road in a box but also seemed to signify a new chapter in our lives - a new adventure!

Not long now & we are really looking forward to meeting all the BE's in Perth & settling into our new life.

Thanks everyone for all you best wishes - it is you lot that have kept me going over the last few months & I always knew that if I needed advice or guidance you could be called on.

The packers did a fantastic job & appreciate how hard they work - they could have made things awkward but became almost a member of the family for 3 days. One of them said that if we had not found a home for our old dog that he will have her - BLESS!

If your packers from John Mason or M&A are called Andy & John then they were ours & say a huge hello from us!!!

mum is on dial up so will have to sign off for now - good luck!!!
