Default Pacific pines or North lakes???

Would just like opinions on these 2 areas please for you people already living out there.

We are family of 5, me, hubby and 3 girls aged 3, 12 and 14.

Looking for nice areas with plenty for kids to do, beaches and schools not to far away etc etc.

All opinions welcome.

Large new(ish) estates, never ending new plots released. You either love or hate em. Same style of house repeated over and over on ever increasingly smaller plots of land. Mortgage type belt, mums and dads, bad traffic in/out in peak hour.

Northlakes is only 15 mins to beach at redcliffe, probably for same price you could get a older house walk to seafront. 20 mins from airport. 30 mins off peak to CBD. Suburban but far from isolated.

These places dont appeal to me, they look like a sea of roofs on the side of a highway. However once inside you get parks, bike tracks and the supermarket/schools/pub set up. Northlakes is surrounded by what will eventually become the biggest shopping centre in QLD and 10 mins from chermside which is the current biggest. Plenty of access to several areas for work. 45 mins from sunshine coast.

Pacific pines is northern gold coast, best bet from there would be a commute to brissie for work. Again new estate on side of highway.

So people shouldn't live where a copper has been murdered? Narrows the options down a bit I'd have thought.

He wasn't murdered because it was Pac Pines though, PP is hardly the murder capital of the world, is it? Fairly tasteless to bring it up in my opinion but what do I know, I'm wasting time arguing about it.

It's a fair comment that the crime down that way is an on-going worry though.

I'd rather be up near Redcliffe given the choice now knowing what I know.

I think you'll find the Coomera Town Centre will be that. I was told it'll be the largest in the southern hemisphere with own police stn, TAFE (already in place) and all the rest!

Pac Pines is good for exercise, especially if you have a pram to push.

I guess if you're coming in now it could be a consideration. Crime is a worry anywhere, doesn't stop people moving to LA or NY though. The current crime problem doesn't impact on my life at all, whilst it stays that way, I'll put it to the back of my mind and then stick my head back in the sand.

Is North Lakes crime free? I wouldn't live at either location personally but I shouldn't think the people of PP are moving out because they're scared. Where's Soapy when you need him?

i love pac pines.
some things just cant be prevented. this could happen to any area that has a tavern.
its just a shame it happened here and now the name of pac pines is linked to a murder.

its a great family area and thats why we moved here.
there are better areas on the coast and in brissie, but better to whos needs?

this area suits us for now. i know that will change in a few years, but its still a great area to bring up youngsters and teens.

Big article in this weekend's Courier Mail - "The other Side of Paradise"- (have not found the soft link yet) highlighting the large drugs problem and crime in Pacific Pines area. Also highlights the high unemployment figures ~7% (national figure of 5.3%) mainly associated with the construction slow down (or is it death?)......

...Let's hope it is not the Pacific Pines Tavern...I see it has become popular with "groups of bike members", especially on weekends.
