Virgin spreads wings into Pacific
By Peter Morley
February 20, 2004
VIRGIN Blue's sister airline will spread its wings further into the Pacific with flights scheduled to start between Australian and Fiji in September.
Subject to regulatory approvals in both countries, Pacific Blue will initially operate six times a week with daily services next year, depending on demand.
Fares and Australian departure ports have still to be announced.
Pacific Blue, which is based in New Zealand, began flying Christchurch-Brisbane last month and next month will fly into Sydney and Melbourne as well as adding Wellington to its schedules.
Virgin Blue/Pacific Blue spokesman David Huttner said many Australians thought Fiji was out of their reach.
"Pacific Blue hopes to change that with flights into Nadi just as Virgin Blue has for domestic tourism throughout Australia," he said.
