Ozzie Tax
Hi All - This is my first ever post on here......... thought i would join since i signed a contract yesterday to move to Perth so really need all your guys help
I've been reading posts for a few nights now and this site seems really helpful and fun.
Im trying to work out how much tax i will pay on my salary and i think i have worked it out but i just want to make sure.
I found a monthly Australian government tax table (Schedule 4, PAY AS YOU GO (PAYG) WITHHOLDING) and on pg 3 there is a section for foreign residents. My monthly earnings will be $9584 so by the table it says deduct $1850 plus 40 cents for each $1 of earnings over $6250 so i work out my earnings after tax to be $6400.4 a month after tax.
Can anyone tell me if i've done this right - i would be very very appreciated
Thanks in advance,
Kev

Re: Ozzie Tax
Hi Kev, if you are living and working in Australia for a period of time (usually 6 months is the standard 'settlement' period) you are actually an Australian Resident for Tax purposes.
See: http://www.ato.gov.au/taxprofessiona...tent/64131.htm
Therefore, you will pay resident tax rates.
So, on $9584 pm you will get $6772 net
