Was wondering if Oz has similar teen groups and what they're called?

Emos are big here. Plenty of them hanging round Perth CBD. I saw one wearing a Cure t-shirt today. How dare they hijack such a great band! They need to get their own music.

Emos seem to have cropped up as a gentle but obvious rebellion to 2 of the the other 2 main cultures, Hoons and the footy kids.

Dont think the footy kids have a name, but some are obsessed with it (aussie rules not soccer) a lot of them like to show how tough they are and are very proud the academic side of school means zip.

Hoons, starts about grade 10 (16) but they often take the younger girls with them so can be 14, hoons speed and drive generally as dangerously as posssible friday and saturday nights. Big problem in OZ and bit of a sick culture associated with it, the local cult heros killed themselves wrapped round a tree in mountain creek, think the girl in that was only 15.

Then theres the surfie kids sometimes were called grommets but you dont hear kids use that much, usually they have long hair and generally seem more interested in surfing than trouble, only problem can be a lot of mulling up seems to go on.
