Default Oz police foil terrorist attack

News here this morn is that 16 people have been arrested in more than one state in early morning police raids.

Ive only just turned tv on so thats all Ive got so far however the tv show on prime "sunrise" has extended its show to give more coverage so it must be quite big news.

Hmmm, just seen in on the SMH site, it's diificult to know how to feel, relieved that the buggers have been foiled but concerned that this is an inevitable issue in Australia, it really is global terrorism.

sure they did!

another smokescreen to pull the wool over the australian publics eyes. apparently, none of those arrested in melbourne were due to plotting a terrorist attack.

Yeah for sure - next time they should let them blow up whatever they are going to blow up then we can all blame howard for not doing something quick enough.

but really these laws are to stop public demonstrations on IR.... really.

In fact -the best thing howard could do is let a terrorist attack occur, then say to Labour / ALP " See - you assholes , if you'd let us detain these people with our law then XX people wouldnt have died". That would guarantee him public support.

Just heard on Channel 9 that one of the terror suspects fired at a police officer and police have now shot him outside his house!!
Bit worried about my elderly aunt who lives in this same suburb called Green Valley.

I heard this on the radio too, but there's been nothing on the ABC news site yet.

Apparently police are checking to see if he was Brazilian.

I find the way the government acts here somewhat disturbing, its either another IR sidetrack stunt or a look at us we are doing something act to improve popularity for the Howard government who will be out on their backsides after the work for peanuts laws.

I think the problem is not with the arrest of the people, but the obvious hypocrisy of the Australian government. And the propaganda that is rammed down our throats.

I want to know who the first of the age cartoonists will get nicked for "Sedition"

What a bloody joke.

according to the accl, todays arrests could have been made under legislation that pre-existed the change in the law last week. but i doubt little johnnie will be letting that on to the gullible australian people.

As long as these idiots are off the streets thats what counts, I think ASIO & feds & state police did a good job.
