I was in japan last week - their mortgage rate = 1.6% !!!! Get ajapanese yen mortgage ;-)

I just took one with ANZ for 6.72% variable as an offset account meaning what ever I have in my current account offsets the interest payable from my mortgage. Its quite good, especially as I have some saving at the mo so I am saving about $150-200 a month. It costs $350 a year to have mind you, but you get free banking and credit cards (I know, back home that was free anyway!) initial costs were less too. You are basically getting 6.72% on your savings, tax free. Even your fortnightly pay packet contributes to savings as its calculated daily.

I used mortgagechoice to advice me and I have nothing but praise for them. I can pass on the name of the guy who helped me if any one is looking. Funnily, he is a pommy and lived in Wimbledon like me. small world!
