Oz income tax 2002-2003
I must have spent about 2 hours searching the web for the Australian income tax rates for the 2002-2003 tax year but I cannot find them anywhere (not even on the governments own tax site !!!!). All I can find is last year's rates (2001-2002).
Could some kind soul please point me in the right direction.
Many fanx

Re: Oz income tax 2002-2003
Nick,
There are no changes to the rates for 2002/03 compared with 2001/02. The Aussie Government doesn't increase the thresholds at which the different rates of tax take effect in the same way that the UK Government does in each year's Budget.
As such Australians experience what is called "bracket-creep" in which the average tax rate paid by the average Australian increases from one year to the next.
There were increases in the amounts of the tax credits available to qualifying taxpayers, but that's another issue ...
In case of need, the 2001/02 rates are here:
http://www.collettandco.co.uk/aussie_individuals.html
and on this page there's a link to some tax calculators you might find useful:

Hope this helps.

Thanks Alan. What a shocking bit of news. I suppose this high taxation thing is something I'm going to have to get used to.
I can't believe Australians stand for all this. There'd be a revolution if Gordon Brown (texture like sun) tried to pull a stunt like that on the UK public.
