Oz Governor General to attend Chuck & Camilla's wedding

Australia's governor-general and his wife will fly to England to attend wedding celebrations for Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles.
But the vice-regal pair's intention to party in honour of the imminent royal nuptials has not won approval from all Australians.
The Governor-General, Major General Michael Jeffery, and his wife Marlena said they had accepted an invitation to attend a post-ceremony blessing and wedding reception for Charles and Camilla on April 8.
They will be among 700 guests at the prayer service, to be held after a private civil wedding ceremony at the Guildhall.
"The governor-general and Mrs Jeffery will attend a service of prayer and dedication in St George's Chapel, Windsor Castle, to be presided over by the Archbishop of Canterbury," a spokesman said.
"Following the ceremony and the service, ... Her Majesty will give a reception at Windsor Castle."
Not all taxpayers would appreciate Australia's official presence at the celebrations, Labor MP Daryl Melham said.
"It has already been reported that Prince Charles' recent visit to Australia cost Australian taxpayers nearly $1 million," Mr Melham told AAP.
"It is quite unnecessary for our governor-general to now fly to the other side of the globe to sit for 20 minutes on a church pew in St George's Chapel at Windsor Castle.
"There's no requirement for Australia to be represented at every royal wedding."
A spokesman for Major General Jeffery said he could not comment on the cost of the governor-general's impending trip, or whether a wedding gift would be funded by Australian taxpayers or out of Major General Jeffery's own pocket.
Prime Minister John Howard has said he wasn't invited to the forthcoming royal wedding and did not expect to be.
Mr Howard earlier this year said he also did not expect Australia would be invited to send an official representative.
"It is plainly, for reasons which are obvious, not a royal wedding in the more traditionally understood sense of that term," he said.[end quote]
Well, someone's got to go I suppose, the only members of the Royal family attending are Wills & Harry (although Camilla's family will be there in force) so it's not surprising that they've got to go halfway around the world to fill the pews, added to that the bemusement/derision of a nation towards the event - that god I'll be out of the country when it happens!! Tally Ho!!
