Shellys back
Dear All,
Hello again - begged hubby to stay in the Internet Cafe for just a while longer.
Yes we are having a fine old time, very hectic sorting everything out but lovely.
We have found everyone that we have had dealings with so far to be friendly and helpful, and any mention of poms has only been in friendly banter (could be completely different behind our backs) but what the eye doesnt see the heart doesnt grieve over.
After reading Pommie B's posts, was expecting hubby to have to work all the hours under the sun, with 3 shifts pretty much the same as the UK. The shift pattersn here are different for anyone who is interested, the afternoon or lates shift here is from 3.30pm to 11.30p.m. Nights 11.30p.m. to 7.30a.m. and obviously days is the rest.
The reality here for us is that he has only got to work days and they dont expect anyone to work overtime. In fact hubby had hoped there would be a chance to do some overtime but no. Im not saying that this is the same everywhere but to everyone still waiting wait and make your own minds up. Everyone is different and we are loving it.
Havent driven the car yet. I am going to do a driving miss daisy and go out on the roads on a Sunday first lol. Undertaking is allowed here and if someone signals to change lanes then thats what they are going to do without waiting BUT they drive much slower here generally than in the UK.
For anyone taking the on arrival accomodation - please be aware that it is all government housing and therefore may not be up to some peoples standards. I know that the housing association are trying to get this point across with Immi - cause some people have been less than impressed with the areas in which they are housed.
Make no mistake, Hunstmans are big but im petrified of spiders and even I thought "Is that it" about 1" across for the body and the rest is legs. Very big eyes though urgghhh.
Finding it harder to rent somewhere with our dog. There are places but they are the not so well looked after places and we have found that at the estate agents out of every 15 rentals maybe 1 or 2 will accept pets - for anyone whos bringing their dog or cat.
Got to go now
Catch you all soon.
Shelly
