Overseas driving license
 

Dear all,

As I got PR in Oz for WA state 1st 2 years, so if I bring Indian license with International Permit then also I have to apply for Oz license. Could anybody answer that should I bring International Permit with Indian license or only Indian license & have to apply for Oz license for Oz I.D.....

It won't hurt to bring both. Better to bring it and not need it than to leave it in India but it be required.

If you have pr then you have to get an Aussie licence within three months.
Not sure about before that as we being British can just use our uk licence without the international permit.

Sir,

Today i enquired about international license, they said they will give international license with indian national license by takin additional cost. If I bring that both licenses then it will do.. or still I have to apply for Oz license despite of bringing these both licenses... Could u suggest some tips for this...

Tip - start helping yourself. Each state has a road authority, they have their rules published on the web in plain English.

First thing, the little pink symbol beside Pumpkin Blossom's name indicates that she is a female. Therefore, "sir" is incorrect.

Second, you have already been told by Pumpkin Blossom that you must get an Australian driving license within 3 months of moving to Australia if you have PR. You cannot drive indefinitely on an international license. You will be resident in Australia, therefore need an Australian license specific to the state you move to.

And finally, as has been pointed out each state has its own vehicle licensing authority. Have you thought to help yourself out by Googling it? No? Driving license verification requirement in Western Oz
 

Dear All,

I read in Western Australia transport site that people from Asian countries like india requires National license with verification letter from consulate..

So what type of verification they need....? Means to say that what has to be written in letter....

you don't have to write anything. check www.pakistan.org.au you have forms for license verification on that site. you send your license to Pakistan Consulate and they send it for verification to Pakistan and then give a letter to you that might take a couple of months.

I didn't know Pakistan was now handling driving licences for India.
