Default Outdoor Area Renovation - Recommendations

So our lovely 2 Boxer dogs have trashed our back garden. We are going to bulldoze and start from scratch. Anybody renovated their outdoor areas and gardens, including a new patio (preferably timber not metal).

Some recommendations would be lovely.

We are in the middle of doing ours so its ready for the summer. We are doing it ourselves. We have to flatten all the soil as it was hilly. My oh has removed a hedge which was easy.Getting rid of the roots is a different story. He has woken up stiff every morning. We have put up a new gazebo over the spa and are putting down two decking areas. So far it looks lovely but still a good way to go.We have yet to remove the asbestos fence and build a retaining wall to extend the garden.

Anyone but Burlow's. Took them nearly 4 months to get around to submitting our plans to council and then only after I reminded them for about the 10th time that I had given them a wad of money to do this job. Oh, and they also built the gazebo in the wrong spot. It's about a metre to one side from where I told them I wanted it.
