Our visit to Brissie
We went over to Brisbane for a couple of weeks to validate our visas and to look for areas we might like to live in. We'd really like to hear from anyone who can give us any advice.
We are in our 20's with no kids so fancy being in the city itself so didn't bother with the Bayside area at all.
We stayed at the Franklin Villa in West End which we definitely recommend. We flew with JAL which we really wouldn't recommend!
We had a really good look around the Paddington, Auchenflower and Redhill area and loved it. These was our favourite suburbs and we were really surprised by just how hilly and leafy they were - not sure why but we both imagined brissie to be flat! The houses seemed to be really nicely presented with gardens and verandahs and the area seemed to be everything we would want. Does anyone have any opinion on these burbs?
We also really liked Bulimba and the areas around it but think we are a little priced out of that area!
We both fell in love with brisbane and can't wait to move there. The city is so nice and the atmosphere there is great. The people are very friendly and very positive when we mentioned we were moving there. We loved the way each suburb seemed to have its own cafe/bar/restaurant scene.
We've read a bunch of posts on here and heard from friends that brissie is really quiet/small/backward. This is so not true! The shopping was great - Alex liked the look of all the boutique shops! The restaurants really good and varied and plenty of nightlife.
We stayed in Bris for a week and then went up to Noosa, stopping to see Steve Irwin at Oz Zoo on the way!
In noosa we stayed at the Noosa Valley Manor which was fantastic! Noosa is so gorgeous! We are now seriously considering going to noosa but we're not sure about getting work there.
I hope someone will give us honest opinions about the areas we like. Also, are there areas that you would totally avoid - ie really rough, high crime areas? Is there anywhere that you would recommend that we haven't thought about? We would be looking at the 400-500k price range.
Thanks

Wow, a good position you are both in,
I cant advise you, but if I was in your shoes.
Live near the city,
Live near public transport and accessible methods of getting around,
Ensure the area looks like its socially inviting, and you dont have to trawl through the inet to look for friends, you meet ppl spontaniously,
finish this later..........go to go
