We have to submit more medical info for our son,a more indepth specialist report which isnt a problem but we have also to get an IQ Test done by a Clinical Psychologist which is proving to be a real pain in the butt! Apart from the extra expence involved,there are very few of them about.
Hubby had phoned every private hospital around & got virtualy no where,funny thing was on phoning two different hospitals one of the psychologists was on holiday in Oz & the other was preparing to leave for Oz!
We have an appointment with the Nuffield Hospital(thanks Walla!) but cant get it done until the 17th of this month,we have 28days to get all this back to Adelaide so time is pretty tight,its also going to cost £150!
Our heads are bursting,feel as if we,ve been chasing our tails all week.
Andrew does very well at school & always has, we thought his school reports & a head teachers report would suffice,

Hi Donna,

Sounds as if you are having a nightmare, all you need when you are waiting for your visas.
We have our application in and are waiting for DIMIA to send us a letter requesting medicals and pcc. We live in Newcastle and have found out that we have to travel to Middlesbrough for the medicals, the doctor who used to carry out the medicals in Newcastle has since left. Our agent told us that sometimes you have to book up a month in advance for the medicals, I would make an appointment now but don`t want to in case its a while before we hear from DIMIA! Already sent away for the pcc as I found out on this site it can take up to 40-50 days!

Its just so bloody frustrating,you all know how it is without me ranting!
You wait that long to hear something,when you finally do its something that holds the process up that wee bit longer
We are trying to comfort ourselves with the fact that at least someone has looked at our case
One of those weeks,next week will be better (trying to muster up some positivity!)

Does it have to be a specialist psychologist? Ie an educational psychologist?

Try the yellow pages.

Is it the Nuffield in Glasgow u r going to?

If it is then they are quite good at getting the reports out to you, just tell them u have 14 dyas to get the report back to Oz, push them on a bit and for peace of mind why not just apply for an extension and then it is already in place should the need arise, will save you from worrying about it meantime.

We applied for an extension as we had some follow up stuff to do, they gave us an extra month to have the details back, but in the end we didnt need it.

Hi Donna,

I think most CO will grant an extension if its requested for, for circumstances like that. My CO letter actually stated that I needed to have my medicals in OR show that I had made an effort to get them done (IE. the appointment letter). Wouldnt hurt to get an extension just-in-case surely??

Dont get too fed up donna. it does feel as if someones have a laugh or that Jeremy Beadles gonna jump out and tell you it was all a wind up. he wont but i wish he would and make it all go away.
take biggys advice about the hospital. they were good with us when we pushed them ( a last min x ray)
and dont worry soon u will be wondering what all the fuss was about.

(Clinical psychologist able to do IQ test & mental age assessment, must be private as with the NHS you have to be refered by your Gp which would take weeks/months!-just to make things even more difficult!

Hi Donna

have you tried asking your local GP about refering you. You could ask them but state that you willing to pay to go private for the initial appointment this would get you in and then when you could explain to him/her at the appointment that you need it doing asap as your hoping to emigrate.

i hope you can get it sorted quickly though good luck

Mrs Walla here. All I can say is hang on in there. I really can sympathise with your frustrations - it's a real nightmare. Have faith - I am sure like us you'll get there in the end. As my cousin kept saying to me when we were having trauma's 'It 'll aal work oot'

Glad we had meds when we did (with doctor in Newcastle) He was a really nice guy - shame for those from Newcastle who now have to treck to Middlesbrough.



Keep your chin up Donna - it will all come together when you least expect it (honest)

Hi donna,
sounds like a complete nightmare, has your son had any intervention through school i.e. SEN because if he was assessed in school your SENCO their will have a copy of the Ed Psych report.
