Default our first week in NZ

We arrived here on sunday, the weather was hot and sunny. We took a shuttle bus to the motel we booked over the internet where we stayed for 3 nights.I had been in touch we a real estate over the internet and warned them when we would want to look at rental properties. So on the monday i was taken with my 3 kids to look at various houses.I picked the house i liked best and we moved in on wednesday. On thursday we went and bought a bed, futon and fridge/frezzer along with a few bits and bobs. The furniture was delivered on fri/sat.What a breeze compaired to getting things done in the UK.
We now awaite our container to be delivered before we can fully feel at home.
Oh i forgot to say Al started work on the monday,so i did most of it with 3 kids in toe we now have the beer in the fridge

Well done to you all - The best attitude is the one you are showing.

Avoid those designer beers and go straight to NZ's finest - Speights - in the big bottles!

That is exactly what we plan to be doing on our first week when we reach NZ - glad to see it is possible!

Keep sending your news - I am moving out in Feb and am currently s***ting bricks about it!

Great attitude! Here's a tip you might not have thought of. If you're planning on buying and need a mortgage, you can arrange it in principle now (took me about an hour, we filled out the forms at the desk of the mortgage girl at the bank) and fix an interest rate which can be held for 6 months. Savvy because rates are due to rise anytime soon. They might ask a fee for this 'holding service', we were lucky in that National Bank waived this fee, also waived the mortgage arrangement fee and gave us NZD500 towards the legal bill (just ask).

Well done. Now all you need to do is change your location on your British Expats profile!
