Default Our container is being delivered on Thursday!!!

I am so excited our container is being delivered on Thursday. It arrived in Freo last Thursday and was collected at the wharf on Monday. Signed off with quarantine.

So far this end Pickfords have been really good. I've spoken to them and they have done there best to get it to me as quick as possible. I now need to keep my fingers crossed it's all there and in one piece.

Our request was slighting different than most. In the UK we export wrapped our stuff and put into to storage and we then informed Pickfords where to ship to as we didn't know if it would be UK or Oz. We had a few extra invoices to what we agreed but seem to have been sorted but I will be double checking what has been taken from our account and the amount we should be charged once the container has arrived (laptop died with all info on it although I have got it backed up but need a window pc to get my outlook back).

I will keep you posted.

In summary:

UK side of Pickfords. Need to double check charges. Packing guys good but they pushed it right to the edge with one guy being sick on first day. Packing - will tell you what condition our stuff was in when it arrives.
Information on transit good.
Pickfords arranging customs / quarantine in Oz excellent.
Redelivery - tbc

Hi,
thats great, well in time for your party! Did you ship arrive on the maersk damascus? I think that was the only container ship that arrived that week. How much stuff did you have and did you have any wooden or garden bits in there. i am asking because our conatiner arrived on the same ship and we were told by the removals comapny here in aus that they wouldn't collect it from the wharf until wednesday and then it would probably eb a couple of weeks to clear customs... we would love to have it out before then as we have people coming to stay in couple of weeks and we have NO BEDS or FURNITURE!!! They will be a bit hacked off if they have to kip on the floor.

Cheers

Chris

Hi ya,

We didn't have much of stuff that could be stopped. I think it helped that I spoke with Pickfords. I think they helped get it signed off quickly and I booked in the delivery date so they tried to get everything through for that. They were very helpful but if I had just left it I think it would have taken the W.A (wait a while) time scale.

Not sure this helps you out but I would give the company a call. I was calling every day for an update. I would tell them you have visitors and are desperate and you would really appreciate it if they could help you out of this sticky problem and she how far it gets you.

I do know that Allied Pickfords have inspections every day but some companies we got quotes from said inspections were once per week.

I wish you luck.

Regards

Hi! You should be able to use electrical items in Australia as they operate on 230-250 volts (uk is 220-240) just remember you'll need to change the plugs.

I would buy a couple of UK plug banks with surge protector and stick on in your suit case. Saves changing all the plugs.

For anyone else. We got rid of a lot of stuff as we were in a hurry packing. I would say though bring as much as you can. Make sure you fill you container full. The number of things I say "oh did we get rid of that" and wish I'd kept. Just silly things I thought I didn't have a use for.
