Optus or Tesltra? For choice, Telstra (initially)
An observation about cable versus dsl which I hadn't realised.
You have a choice of getting cable (Optus) or dsl for broadband.
If you choose cable and get your phone from Optus then if you later want to go dsl or naked dsl then you need to switch your fixed line over to Telstra before the dsl or naked dsl suppliers will contract with you. Not difficult but could be costly $00s to switch to Telstra for a month and then contract to a DSL supplier a month later.
(naked dsl is when you don't have a separate fixed telephone line and just use voip (voice over ip) for telephony)

Basically, to get a choice of broadband and phone suppliers it's best to have a Telstra copper line into the house as then you can chase the best deals. If it's Optus copper then you need to pay to get Telstra copper enabled in order to get a choice of providers.
