Opening bank account from USA

Were brits living in Florida but were planing to move to Brisbane, my question is...am I able to open up a bank account in Oz so I can start transfering money?

yes you can. check out the Westpac website for migrant banking http://www.westpac.com.au/internet/p...igrant+banking. Other banks have similar schemes if you don't like this one for some reason. Just remember that you may have issues accessing the monies you transfer there before "activating" it, which requires you to appear before a bank manager with sufficient number of id documents.
