Default opening a bank account during validation

will be going to sydney for a visa validation trip soon. Wanted to open a bank account with HSBC whilst there, anybody done this before, if possible pls advise what documents to take with me. Don't have a HSBC account now.

Hi Mash,

Passport and $2000 should be all that is needed.

Did this only last week on our validation. As said above passport and $2000 will suffice - I took travellers cheques as much safer than cash.

Cards and paying in book have already turned up at our UK address.
