A question for those of you further on than me...

(and yes I have looked on austimeline first just cant find exactly the answers I need ...)

1. How long do you get to return the Police / Medical checks once requested?

2. What in your experience is the time between the medical checks arriving and 'the next step' (which I assume is a pre grant letter?)

3. What do you have to do with the pre grant letter (if anything)

4. How long do you get to put the visa in your passport (I assume at Australia House london for the Brits amongst us ?)

Thanks and all replies will earn a beer in Oz in december !!

Hi,

1. I think you get about 40 days to return stuff, but can ask for an extension if need be.

2. Estimate is upto 3 months and that's what they say in the letter (apparently, as I've not seen one!)

3. Normally get some forms to complete with the pregrant ie change of circumstances..then wait for the real thing..

4. No idea, not got it yet!! But you can post them off to get them put in...

That'll be a 'beer' for me, please

Could be worse i,m right at the begining of the process and may have to sufFer 18 month,s of PB !

I submitted medicals in July 2002 and still nothing! So not sure about the "it may take upto three months" mentioned in the medical request.

1 Just recieved request, they gave me 49 days to return.
2 also belive to be 3 months between med's and visa but this can go either way i belive
3 not sure
4 you get 5 years to validate not sure about getting the actual visa in passport

It took ages to get Police checks back, but depends on area. I am presuming that you live in Windsor which is pretty close to me, so give at least 5 or 6 weeks. Then once everything is sent off give it 3 months. Try not to think of it before then, and if you hear anything it will be a pleasant surprise. You will then get a pre grant letter, and give it a week or so and you can go to Australia House and get passport stamped. Go early though as gets busy quickly. Then pop to pub across the road and celebrate.

Is it ok if I dont have the beer (my man Neil will have that) but I love a Vodca and diet coke. And I like to be able to taste the vodca so may be make it a double!!!!! Good luck. Louise
