Have you got the stain out?

Use loads of towels on it, if so, to soak up as much water as possible!

Arlene,

Cover with a rug ?
Stand on it when showing them around ?
Move the furniture around to cover the mark ?
Course if its in the doorway it would look a bit silly !!
Hang your hubby from the ceiling to distract them ?

Towels, Arlene - proper towels - best egyptian cotton!!!

and just lay them over, tread on them to press them into the wet, when damp, move to a dry bit and KEEP doing it!

Put salt on it - that will soak it up then scrape off the resulting paste with a knife.

What a scandalous and dissapointing waste of good alcohol

Salt does work very well for red wine. I remember well the wedding reception that i attended, and I did the spilling But the nice young lady opposite me fixed the stain with salt.
