There have been a lot of posts lately about what's good and bad about Australia. I figured here we might post all the good things (and perhaps another thread for the bad).

What I like is the beauty of the country, the climate, and mood in general. Simply walking down the street everything feels better than, say, in a major US city. It feels like people are happy, and that just makes everything safer and less stressed.

I also think that the housing situation seems to be all right. Prices have gone up, I know, but there's still some property to choose from, and lots of different styles too, especially with apartments. Some places in Europe are really crowded, and nothing new is built, so you end up forced to pay a fortune for something old, planned for a different century.

Food quality and general health, that has to be among the best in the world.

The long-term future. Australia's natural resources and location really puts it in a good position. Goverments will come and go, taking the country through some good and bad, but there's a certain stability and richness to the country itself that make me believe it will be the best place to live ten or fifteen years from now, even if the choice might not be as obvious today.

It's great if you are seeweed off Queensland because you get a load of free phosphates, nitrates etc runoff from the farmers who are happy to give it to you free of charge

I am sick to death of all this drivel being posted regarding life in Australia. Grow up! there is no Utopia. We are all adults trying to find the best place to raise our children.Life isn't easy wherever you choose to live. I've spent 17 years in the middle east and now I'm going to Australia. I'll work hard and make the best of it because that's my decision.
