Online OZ shops

I want to get a feel for how much things cost over there so if you have any handy shopping links could you let me know?

We'll hopefully be based in Melbourne but any sites will be fine with anything from furniture to groceries.

Try http://www.coles.com.au and then enter 2000 as a post code {you have to enter one of an area they deliver}. Then you can continue and check out grocery prices.

Also Woolworths and do the same again.

Thanks for the online sites very helpful. Do they have mail order catalogues in OZ like we do in the UK?

Not really. You might get a brochure and a phone number if you're lucky! Unless you like Avon or Tupperware that is :D

Agreed - absolutely shocking! Most large companies only give you the option to download their weekly brochure (which you mail boxes are full of anyway!)!

My biggest bug bear is they don't put the prices on the web!! You have to ring. My second bug up my ar$e is the lack of getting things cheaper on line. By the time you add postage you may as well go down to Big W. Even ebay out here is pants, very hard to get a bargain. I've even sold my computer stuff on it and some items sell for more than the cost of getting them from my web shop! Why?

Yep ridiculous. As Arkon says, you rarely get all their stock on the website (well very little if any) and no hope of a price for anything. It make sme wonder why they bother having the websites in the first place!!
The like sof Myers and DJs have no excuse really. Its not rocket science and certainly not hard to develop and run. When you consider there more remote and rural communites in Australia, it would be a godsend for them.

I bid on a model aircraft kit that can be bought for $60 here in Perth. I stopped bidding at $40 because with $15 postage it was no longer worth it. It eventually sold for $80, so with postage it was $95!

The person who bought it is a complete tool.

I find that really bizzare about Myers & Dj's too. I often go for a wee cyber window shop in debenhams etc and there's hundreds of things to see, I love it. I would look in the shops here too if there was anything.

Well I've spent days trying to win a new sound card on ebay. I can buy them new including GST for $178 plus $13 postage. On ebay they all end up going for $185 -$200+ plus 20 postage.... I used to love ebay back home, here it's mostly an exercise in futility.
