Default Ongoing medical care for relatives

Hoping to come out to WA.
Inlaw has ongoing medical problem - basically having regular type of chemo therapy and will continue to do so long term.
I think them retiring out with us may be difficult for that reason but wondered if anyone has had similar experiecnce with family visiting on tourist visa (3,6 or 12mnth) and receiving ongoing care whilst in Auss.
Thanks for any help,
HH

They can come on a tourist visa, however they will need to take out private health cover in order to pay for their treatment. Reciprocal Medicare is not intended to be used for them to get treatment (chemo) here, but for emergency treatment only. There is a visa specifically for medical treatment, but it's expensive.

Thanks Dorrothy - this is what I thought may be the case and feel this is very acceptable as we have major issues with health expenditure on non-uk residents here in the UK.

Did wonder still if anyone had dealt with this practically ?

Thanks,
HH
