One year today.

G'day,

Just thought I'd post our positive experiences at the end of our first year on the Sunshine Coast for all you nervous people out there.
  • Friends- Brilliant. We've been really lucky and made loads, forget 'us and them' and trying to ingratiate into Australian society and just be yourselves. We're having a one year party this weekend and have invited over 40 people, only two of whom we knew this time last year. Our one big tip is to accept every single invite you get, regardless of if you actually want to go or not!
  • Work- Not bad. Teaching on the coast is not as easy as we first thought, contract coming to an end in December with nothing on the other side as of yet for one of us, but I was gainfully employed, and still am, within 4 weeks of arriving.
  • Home- Fantastic. We rent an amazing unit with stunning views, just what we hoped for. In the process of buying a holiday/rental unit.
  • Family- Two visits so far with another due at Christmas, out of the three groups two were never going to visit...
  • Shopping- Who cares, don't worry about it. Things cost what they cost and there is absolutely nothing you can do about it.
  • Weather- Bloody hot and humid in the summer and surprisingly cold when the sun goes down in the winter. Glorious sunny days seem the norm all year round, except March which was horrible.
Basically we've had a ball, some home sickness but you get over it.

Cheers.
