One way travel insurance
Wondering if there is anything I need to be aware of when booking our travel insurance for relocating to Melbourne?
I was about to just book the cheapest single or annual insurance then thought there might be a specific company I should go through with it being a relocation rather than a holiday?
Interested to hear any advice/tips.
Thanks in advance.

Annual probably won't cover you.
You need one-way, preferably with cover for a few days after you arrive until you get Australian insurance.

There are a few companies who offer a one way insurance, you'll probably have to ring them though, it doesn't tend to be mentioned on their websites. The Post Office do one, as do Go Walkabout and others. Make sure you get a policy that will cover you for a a couple of weeks after you arrive. Many stop the second you pass through passport control which doesn't help if you happen to get robbed before you've got out of the airport.

I used Go Walkabout, very helpful and I think they covered us for up to 15 days after landing to give you time to sort yourselves out.
Holiday insurance doesn't cover you for emigration.

We're travelling to Brisbane on a WHV while we wait for our permenant visas come through. We're going to purchase backpackers insurance which will cover us for a year. Found a quote for under £200 for the two of us which covers everything we need which is pretty much any medical claims, not so worried about baggage etc.
