Default One way Insurance

Hi all

Well the flight is booked for September - so new life, new beginnings in Perth here we come !

Christ I'm starting to s**t myself now as reality really set in when I booked the flights !

My questions are- Can anyone recommend an insurance company for a family of 4 on a one way trip.

Also have most people who have shipped their goods used the shippers insurance or anyone recommend anyone else. My apologies I did see this on a thread recently but cant remember which one !

Thanks in advance

Hi

http://www.go-walkabout.co.uk/ do one way travel insurance that covers you for 17 days after arrival (I believe the post office also does one way)

http://www.lettonpercival.co.uk/ is the shipping insurance company that is cheaper than most shipping companies.

These seem to be for 17 days insurance. Which is a bit excessive for people emmigrating.

As PR..I don't understand what the insurance covers?

Ok..the baggage bit i understand...but medical?????????Aren't all PRs covered by Medicare...or is that not until one has phsically regsitered for medicare?

I thought that was why they offer you the 17 days - until you register with medicare....

Don't know what your coverage is if you aren't registered with medicare and don't have the one way insurance.

Why would you not want 17 days cover?
Most other policies will end when when you reach immigration. So what if you lost all your luggage on the way from the airport to you accommodation and need medical assistance? You'd be happy for the 17 days cover then!

I'd prefer 2 days. I can walk into a medicare clinic and register after arrival and thus be covered. Maybe I'm just tight...but £71 seems a bit steep.
